RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING SPARROW HEALTH SYSTEM ON BEING NAMED ONE OF THE NATION'S 100 TOP HOSPITALS

RESOLUTION #00-001

WHEREAS, Sparrow Health System has been recognized as one of the nation's 100 top hospitals by HCIA, a Baltimore-based information management company, and the Health Network; and

WHEREAS, the HCIA "Benchmark for Success" study is based on 1998 Medicare data and identifies top hospitals that demonstrate superior clinical, operations and financial performance; and

WHEREAS, the study is based solely on objective, quantitative performance data that are consistent and complete across all hospitals in the United States; and

WHEREAS, Sparrow's recognition for clinical excellence and efficient delivery of care was published in Modern Healthcare magazine, the leading health care industry publication; and

WHEREAS, Sparrow is the only mid-Michigan health system to receive this honor and one of only eight in the state of Michigan to receive the award; and

WHEREAS, this recognition is the result of team effort from doctors, nurses, technicians, support team members and volunteers who have demonstrated outstanding dedication to provide quality, compassionate, cost effective health care.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners hereby congratulates Sparrow Health System on being named one of the nation's 100 top hospitals and extends its sincere appreciation to Joe Damore, President and CEO, the entire Sparrow Health System staff and volunteers who have made this honor possible.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board wishes Sparrow Health System continued success in all of its future endeavors.
