RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE BALLOT LANGUAGE FOR THE ELECTION/REFERENDUM FOR THE DETACHMENT OF CERTAIN PROPERTY FROM THE CITY OF WILLIAMSTON TO WILLIAMSTOWN TOWNSHIP

WHEREAS, the Ingham County Board of Commissioners set August 8, 2000 as the election/referendum date for the qualified electors of the City of Williamston and Williamstown Township to consider detachment of certain property from the City of Williamston to Williamstown Township; and

WHEREAS, the Election Scheduling Committee has reviewed this date and determined that there are no election conflicts on this date; and

WHEREAS, the Ingham County Board of Commissioners must authorize the ballot language for the detachment election/referendum to be placed on the August 8, 2000 ballot.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the Ingham County Board of Commissioners authorizes the following language for the August 8, 2000 election/referendum regarding the detachment of certain property from the City of Williamston to Williamstown Township:

A PROPOSAL FOR THE DETACHMENT OF CERTAIN TERRITORY FROM THE CITY OF WILLIAMSTON, INGHAM COUNTY, MICHIGAN TO WILLIAMSTOWN TOWNSHIP, INGHAM COUNTY, MICHIGAN

A proposal for the detachment of the portion of territory located in the City of Williamston to Williamstown Township, and which is generally located in the westerly most part of the City of Williamston between the Red Cedar River and Grand River Avenue, and is legally described as follows:

 

Part of the East 2 of Section 34, T.4 N.-R.1 E., City of Williamston, Ingham County, Michigan, described as follows:

Beginning at the East 1/4 corner of said section; thence along the east line of said section, S.04E -48'-54"E., 2050.00 feet to the northerly right-of-way of Grand River Road (M-43); thence along said northerly right-of-way line on a 2242.01-foot radius curve to the right for an arc length of 397.81 feet, said curve having an internal angle of 10E 09'58" and a long chord bearing of N.69E 40'58"W., 397.29 feet; thence continuing along said northerly right-of-way line, N.64E -35'= 59"W., 1110.01 feet to the west line of the east 2 of the Southeast 1/4 of said section; thence along said west line, N.04E -29'-23"W., 1421.39 feet to the southwest corner of the east 2 of the Northeast 1/4 of said section; thence along the west line of said east 2 of the Northeast 1/4 of said section, N.04E -25'-17"W., 1320.69 feet to the northwest corner of the south 2 of the Northeast 1/4 of said Section 34; thence along the north line of said south 2 of the Northeast 1/4, N.89E -28'-41" E., 822.17 feet to the south bank of the Red Cedar River; thence along said south bank on arandom traverse line for the following (4) courses:

S.28E -46'-20"E., 209.00 feet; thence S.35E -44'-09"E., 318.00 feet; thence S.28E -

Shall the above described property located in the City of Williamston, Ingham County, Michigan, be detached to Williamstown Township, Ingham County, Michigan?

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Clerk will forward a copy of this resolution to the respective Clerks of both the City of Williamston and Williamstown Township.
