Introduced by the Law & Courts Committee of the:

INGHAM COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

WHEREAS, the Ingham County Sheriff, at the request of various municipalities and other public entities, specially deputizes police officers of those entities; and

WHEREAS, there is currently a contract with Michigan State University for Department of Public Safety employees who are certified police officers; and

WHEREAS, it would be in the best interest of the County and the Sheriff to have a contract with Michigan State University to specifically cover the University Club development.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Sheriff and Chairperson of the Board of Commissioners are hereby authorized to sign a contract with Michigan State University, whereby the Sheriff will specially deputize their police officers for purposes of enforcing the law at the University Club of Michigan State University, its buildings and grounds, and any adjacent roadways outside of the jurisdiction of the University subject to the contract documents being approved as to form by the County Attorney and being consistent with this resolution.
