RESOLUTION HONORING CITY OF WILLIAMSTON POLICE CHIEF

JAMES LaCLEAR

RESOLUTION #00-175

WHEREAS, James LaClear has served as the Police Chief for the City of Williamston for 27 years, and

WHEREAS, he also served as the interim City Manager when the position became vacant on two separate occasions; and

WHEREAS, as Chief of Police, James LaClear created the Williamston Area Reserve Program, in which many of the young men in the reserves have become police officers all over the State of Michigan; and

WHEREAS, James LaClear befriended most of the City of Williamston= s 3,500 citizens and has kept the crime rate in town near zero, making Williamston a very safe community to live in; and

WHEREAS, Chief LaClear believes in treating everyone, regardless of age, with great respect and relies on his years of experience and common sense when dealing with delicate issues; and

WHEREAS, James LaClear served eight years in the Air Force, including combat duty in Vietnam and is loved and respected by everyone in the community.

WHEREAS, after twenty seven years of service, James LaClear retired from his position as Chief of Police for the City of Williamston.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners hereby honor Chief James LaClear for his years of service as Chief of Police for the City of Williamston and for the many contributions he has made to the citizens of Ingham County, particularly those that reside within the City of Williamston.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board wishes him continued success in his future endeavors.
