INGHAM COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

RESOLUTION TO ACCEPT A JAIL ACCREDITATION GRANT FROM MICHIGAN MUNICIPAL RISK MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY

RESOLUTION #00-207

WHEREAS, the Ingham County Sheriff= s Office has been approved to receive a Jail Accreditation Grant from M.M.R.M.A. (Michigan Municipal Risk Management Authority); and

WHEREAS, this grant will provide for between $5,000 to $7,500 of the total Jail Accreditation fee of $11,000; and

WHEREAS, the Sheriff= s Office has been notified that a Ingham County will receive a rebate from the federal government (estimated at $98,000 in FY 2000) as identified through our contract with Justice Benefits; and

WHEREAS, the Ingham County Sheriff= s Office is recommending that the Board of Commissioners apply to the National Institute of Corrections for the Jail Accreditation Process and accept the MMRMA Jail Accreditation Grant.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners approves the acceptance of the Jail Accreditation Grant from the MMRMA up to $8,250 and the local match of up to $5,500 from federal government rebate funds.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners authorizes the submission to the National Institute of Corrections for the Jail Accreditation Process for the Ingham County Correctional Facility at a cost of $11,000.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners direct the Controller to make the necessary budget adjustments in the Ingham County Sheriff= s Office 2000 budget.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners authorizes the Board Chairperson and the Sheriff to sign any necessary contract and application documents that are consistent with this resolution and approved as to form by the County Attorney
