INGHAM COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE AN AMENDMENT TO THE DENTAL SERVICES GRANT AGREEMENT AND TO CREATE A DENTAL DIRECTOR POSITION

RESOLUTION #00-219

WHEREAS, Ingham County accepted a Dental Services Grant from the Michigan Department of Community Health, authorized by Resolution No. 00-116; and

WHEREAS, the Health Department is working to establish a second clinical dental unit, to serve Medicaid enrolled children, which will be operational by the end of 2000; and

WHEREAS, during the course of developing the second clinical unit, consultants have strongly advised that the Department needs a Dental Director, to oversee the clinical operation of the two dental units; and

WHEREAS, the Department is working with the MDCH to modify the grant to create a Dental Director position in place of one of the contractual dentist positions; and

WHEREAS, the Health Officer recommends that the Board of Commissioners authorize an amendment to the Dental Services Grant Agreement and establish a Dental Director position.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners authorizes an amendment to the Dental Services Grant Agreement authorized in Resolution No. 00-116.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the amendment shall adjust the budget to move funds from the contractual services line item to salary and benefit line items in order to support the cost of a Dental Director position.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a position of Dental Director is established at pay grade 15 on the salary schedule for Ingham County Confidential and Managerial Jobs, and that the Human Resources Director and the Health Officer are authorized to offer a starting salary up to step 4 in order to obtain the services of a qualified Dental Director.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board Chairperson is authorized to sign the amendment to the Dental Services Grant Agreement after review by the County Attorney.
