RESOLUTION TO ACCEPT THE 2000 D.A.R.E.

DRUG ABUSE RESISTANCE EDUCATION GRANT

RESOLUTION #00-259

WHEREAS, the Ingham County Sheriff= s Office applied for and has been approved to receive a D.A.R.E. grant from the Capital Region Community Foundation; and

WHEREAS, the award amount of the D.A.R.E. Grant is $2,500.00; and

WHEREAS, the grant award of $2,500.00 will be utilized for the teaching materials of drug prevention education (workbooks, name tags, and awards) and supplies for students during classroom instruction (pencils, balloons, rulers, t-shirts, and stickers); and

WHEREAS, the project funding will be utilized to educate 13 elementary schools, 6 middle schools, 5271 students, and 283 classrooms.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners approves the acceptance of the grant and authorizes a contract with the Capital Region Community Foundation for a total of $2,500.00 for the time period of September 27, 2000 through August 27, 2001.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners authorizes the Board Chairperson and the County Clerk to sign any necessary contract documents that are consistent with this resolution and approved as to form by the County Attorney.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners directs the Controller= s Office to make the necessary budget adjustments in the Ingham County Sheriff= s Office 2000 and 2001 budgets.
