INGHAM COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

WHEREAS, an underground storage tank (UST) was removed at Lake Lansing Park~South and soil contamination was noted by soil testing completed at the time of removal; and

WHEREAS, the Ingham County Board of Commissioners approved Resolution #99-284, authorizing a contract with MacKenzie Environmental Services, Inc. for the removal of the UST and the contract did not include provisions for additional testing required to meet Department of Environmental quality (DEQ) requirements when soil contamination is detected; and

WHEREAS, proposals were solicited and received for the required testing procedures and closure report for this UST site and said proposals have been reviewed and evaluated; and

WHEREAS, the full scope of the work to be performed cannot be determined until testing has been completed and evaluated; and

WHEREAS, Resolution #99-284 authorized funds in the amount of $20,000.00 for the project and $16,942.00 is available to complete closure of the UST site.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners authorizes a contract with PM Environmental, Inc., 1035 E. Saginaw Hwy., Lansing, Michigan, in an amount not to exceed $6,765.00 for the testing work necessary for closure of the UST site at Lake Lansing Park~South.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the remaining funds of the originally appropriated $20,000.00 may be expended for additional work and/or testing of the site according to existing county procedures.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board Chairperson and County Clerk are authorized to sign the contract after approval as to form by the County Attorney.
