INGHAM COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

RESOLUTION RECOMMENDING WITHDRAWAL FROM THE CAPITAL AREA HEALTH ALLIANCE AND TO FORGO PAYMENT OF THE DUES FOR JULY 1, 2000 THRU JUNE 30, 2001

RESOLUTION #00-288

WHEREAS, the question of continued membership in the Capital Area Health Alliance has been raised; and

WHEREAS, the Administrative Services/Personnel Committee of the Board of Commissioners reviewed this issue at its meeting on December 5, 2000 and voted to recommend discontinuation of membership and to forgo payment of $3,000 in dues to the Alliance for the period of July 1, 2000 to June 30, 2001; and

WHEREAS, the Ingham County Health Department also has a membership in the Alliance and has paid its dues for the same period; and

WHEREAS, the Finance Committee is recommending that the Human Services Committee review this matter before any final action is considered by the Board of Commissioners.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners refers this matter to the Human Services Committee for a full review of the concerns which led to the recommendation by the Administrative Services/Personnel Committee.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Human Services Committee shall review this matter as early as possible in 2001, and shall report its findings and recommendations to the Board of Commissioners, including a recommendation as to the continued participation of the Board of Commissioners and of the Health Department.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board of Commissioners directs that its dues payment to the Capital Area Health Alliance be held and not paid until such time as the Human Services Committee meets with representatives of the Capital Area Health Alliance to review the concerns and provides its recommendations to the Board of Commissioners, and until the Board of Commissioners authorizes the dues payment by resolution.
