INGHAM COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

RESOLUTION AWARDING A CONTRACT TO DBI US OFFICE PRODUCTS TO FURNISH AND INSTALL FREESTANDING AND SYSTEMS FURNITURE IN THE CONSOLIDATED COURTS FACILITY AND TO AUTHORIZE THE PURCHASE OF SHELVING

RESOLUTION #00-315

WHEREAS, the new Consolidated Courts Facility will open July 2, 2001; and

WHEREAS, there is a need for furnishing and installing freestanding and systems furniture in the new courthouse; and

WHEREAS, the Office of Purchasing in conjunction with Wigen, Tincknell, Meyer & Associates, has solicited formally advertised Request for Proposals for furnishing and installing freestanding and systems furniture in the Consolidated Courts Facility; and

WHEREAS, the Office of Purchasing received five responses to the Request for Proposals, and, after review and evaluation with John Meyer, architect of Wigen, Ticknell, Meyer & Associates, is recommending that a contract be authorized with the lowest responsive vendor, DBI US Office Products; and

WHEREAS, Tab Shelving is currently used for court records, and existing shelving will be reused in the new courts building, but additional shelving of the same kind is also required and recommended to be purchased by the architect and Office of Purchasing; and

WHEREAS, the Furniture Evaluation Committee, which consisted of representatives of the county and the court, concur with these recommendations.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners authorizes a contract with DBI US Office Products for furnishing and installing freestanding and systems furniture in the Consolidated Courts Facility in an amount not exceeding $550,000.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the purchase of shelving from Tab Shelving is authorized in an amount not to exceed $75,000, based on GSA pricing.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the funds for the purchase of furniture and shelving shall come from the funds committed by the Board of Commissioners for construction of the consolidated courts building.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners authorizes the Board Chairperson and the County Clerk to sign any necessary contract documents for the freestanding and systems furniture and shelving as recommended by the County Controller and approved as to form by the County Attorney.
