Introduced by the Law & Courts and Finance Committees of the:

INGHAM COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

WHEREAS, the recent tragedy of the death of a six year old girl caused by the access to a handgun by a classmate has received national publicity; and

WHEREAS, the Ingham County Sheriff= s Office Mounted Division was interested in making a donation to assist in the purchase of handgun trigger locks that would be given away to citizens of Ingham County; and

WHEREAS, the Ingham County Sheriff= s Office will be participating in a handgun trigger lock give-away program; and

WHEREAS, the Ingham County Sheriff= s Office Mounted Division has generously donated $500 to this program.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners authorizes the Ingham County Sheriff= s Office to accept $500 from the Ingham County Sheriff= s Office Mounted Division.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the $500 will be used to purchase handgun trigger locks to be given away to citizens throughout Ingham County.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners thanks the Ingham County Sheriff= s Office Mounted Division for their generous donation to the Sheriff= s Office.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners authorizes the Controller to make the necessary budget adjustments in the Ingham County Sheriff= s Office year 2000 budget to accept the $500 into line item #101-30102-726010.
