RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING ABLACK HISTORY/CULTURAL DIVERSITY MONTH@
IN INGHAM COUNTY
RESOLUTION #03-003
WHEREAS, on February 19, 1926, Carter G. Woodson established ANegro History Week@ which is now referred to in the United States as ABlack History Month@; and
WHEREAS, to promote a greater awareness of the history and culture of black Americans, the month of February is recognized across the United States as ABlack History@month; and
WHEREAS, the United States is a diverse nation comprised of citizens from various ethnic groups and cultures; and
WHEREAS, it is important to promote a greater awareness of the history and culture of all ethnic groups across our country.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners hereby recognizes the month of February as ABlack History/Cultural Diversity Month@ in Ingham County.
