Minutes

 

 

Members Present:         Andy Schor, Mary Stid, Dianne Holman, Randy Schafer, Tom Minter and Board Chairperson Victor Celentino

 

Members Absent:         Chris Swope

 

Others Present:             John Neilsen, Jerry Ambrose, Teri Younger, Jared Cypher, Stuart Dunnings, Matthew Myers and Mary Sabaj

 

The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Schor at 6:00 p.m. in the Personnel

Conference Room of the Human Services Building, 5303 S. Cedar, Lansing.

 

Additions to the Agenda:           None

 

Limited Public Comment

Mr. Myers informed the Committee that the suspect in the three homicides in Meridian Township has been apprehended.  The suspect is currently in the Ingham County Jail.

(Comm. Holman arrived at 6:03 p.m.)

 

Chairperson Schor informed the Committee that the next regular Law Enforcement meeting is September 16 at 8:00 p.m.

 

1.         Budget Hearings

 

Mr. Dunnings stated the Prosecutor’s Office is pleased with the Controller’s Recommended Budget (Budget).  Mr. Myers stated the Sheriff’s Office is tickled with the Budget.  Ms. Sabaj stated Community Corrections is fine with the Controller’s Recommended Budget. 

 

Mr. Neilsen stated Mr. Fleming informed him prior to this meeting that Animal Control is satisfied with the Budget.

 

MOVED BY COMM. SCHAFER, SUPPORTED BY COMM. MINTER, TO APPROVE THE CONTROLLER’S RECOMMENDED BUDGET FOR THE FOLLOWING DEPARTMENTS:

 

            a.         Animal Control

            b.         Animal Control Shelter Advisory Board

            c.         Community Agency Appropriation

            d.         Community Corrections

            e.         Emergency Operations

            f.          Emergency Telephone – 911 Millage

            g.         Prosecuting Attorney

            h.         Sheriff

            i.          Tri-County Metro Narcotics Squad

 

MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.  Absent:  Comm. Swope

 

Mr. Dunnings thanked Ms. Younger for her assistance during the year.  Her help is much appreciated. 

 

In response to Comm. Stid, Mr. Myers stated the Sheriff’s Office will host an Open House at the Jail in the near future.

 

Comm. Schafer stated he appreciates the happiness expressed by the department heads at this meeting.

 

2.         Final Ranking

 

A ranking was not necessary for this Budget Hearing.
