RESOLUTION HONORING DEREK SPANGLER

RESOLUTION #01-120

WHEREAS, Derek Spangler is a senior at Haslett High School and a member of the TV25 Production team; and

WHEREAS, Derek was a member of Cub Scout Troop #97, which he joined in the 1^st grade at the age of 6, and while in the 6^th grade he became a member of the Okemos Boy Scout Troop #97, chartered by the Chief Okemos Council; and

WHEREAS, during his scouting career Derek has earned approximately 36 Merit Badges, has been an Assistant Leader and Junior Assistant Scout Master in the Boy Scouts, he attends Northwoods Camp every summer and is the recipient of the Arrow of Light Award; and

WHEREAS, Derek has recently earned the highest rank attainable in scouting, the Eagle Scout; and

WHEREAS, to achieve the Eagle rank, a scout must demonstrate leadership and citizenship while earning 21 merit badges before reaching the age of 18.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners congratulate Derek Spangler for earning the rank of Eagle Scout and extend its sincere appreciation to Derek for serving as a positive role model for the youth in our community.
