RESOLUTION HONORING NICK JOHNSON



RESOLUTION #01-136



WHEREAS, Nick Johnson is the Director of Holt Public Schools Community Education program which offers 45 different community programs from preschool to senior programs; and



WHEREAS, he also serves as the Principal of Holt Central High School and Adult Education, with consists of 120 alternative students and 60 adult education students; and



WHEREAS, in 1998, Nick Johnson, along with Robert Schmidt, teacher Lansing School District (advocate) and Phillip Stockard, formerly of Jackson Public Schools funded the Michigan Alternative Athletic Association; and



WHEREAS, the Michigan Alternative Athletic Association is an organization that was established with the idea of giving alternative, residential and charter school students an athletic organization that they could call their own; and



WHEREAS, the MAAA is an example of an effective means to change attitudes and to give the public a better understanding of alternative students; and



WHEREAS, since its inception, Nick has represented the Michigan Alternative Athletic Association as its President; and



WHEREAS, Nick's devotion has been highlighted by the numerous media organizations that have shed a positive light on alternative education; and



WHEREAS, Nick also serves as the President of the Holt/Dimondale Business Alliance and the Vice President of the Holt Ram Victory Club athletic boosters; and



WHEREAS, the Michigan Alternative Education Organization selected Nick Johnson as its 2001 Administrator of the Year.



THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners hereby congratulates Nick Johnson on being selected Administrator of the Year by the Michigan Alternative Education Organization for the year 2001 and extend its sincere appreciation to Nick for the contributions he has made to the community and for improving the quality of life for the citizens of Ingham County.



BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners wishes him continued success in his future endeavors.
