RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE ENTERING INTO A SUBCONTRACT WITH THE CITY OF LANSING TO CONTINUE THE METRO CONSPIRACY INVESTIGATIONS AND SPECIAL PROSECUTION UNIT AT THE PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE

WHEREAS, Ingham County is a participant with the Tri-County Metro Narcotics Squad, an interjurisdictional agency that enforces controlled substance laws; and
WHEREAS, the Tri-County Metro Narcotics Squad is funded by a Byrne memorial grant and matched by local participating County annual appropriations that are reimbursed by formula from civil drug assets forfeiture actions; and
WHEREAS, the Prosecutor's Office has traditionally operated a Forfeiture Unit to pursue civil forfeiture of assets under controlled substance laws and prosecutes criminal drug cases when there is a companion forfeiture action through a subcontract from the City of Lansing; and
WHEREAS, the continuation of this unit and subcontract were anticipated and are within the 2000 and 2001 budget.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners authorizes entering into a subcontract with the City of Lansing for the Metro Conspiracy Investigations and Special Prosecution Unit at the Prosecutor's Office for a total of $183,184 from the time period of October 1, 2000 through September 30, 2001.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the Ingham County Board of Commissioners authorizes the Controller to make the necessary budget amendments as authorized by this resolution.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the Ingham County Board of Commissioners authorizes the Board Chairperson and the County Clerk to sign any necessary grant applications or contract documents that are consistent with this resolution and approved as to form by the County Attorney.
