RESOLUTION HONORING CHIEF JAMES PELTON

RESOLUTION #01-241

WHEREAS, Chief James M. "Jim" Pelton was a thirty-seven year veteran of the City of Mason's Fire Department, serving as Fire Chief for the past nine years; and

WHEREAS, during his years of service with the City of Mason, Jim also served as a certified fire inspector, a member of the Michigan Fire Chief's Association, the Alert Fire Association, Tri-County Fire Chief's Association, Ingham County Fire Chief's Association, the Local Emergency Planning Committee and Vice Chairperson of the Ingham County 911 Advisory Committee; and

WHEREAS, Jim, a retired barber of 39 years, was a lifetime member of the Optimist Club and co-founder of the Mason Freestyle Wresting Club; and

WHEREAS, Chief Pelton was known for his kind demeanor, dedicated leadership, his positive attitude and as a man who always worked diligently for the betterment of his department, and

WHEREAS, Chief Pelton met a tragic death, while in the line of duty; and

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners hereby honor the memory of Chief James M. Pelton and offer the bereaved family our deepest sympathy and sincere appreciation for the contributions he has made to the citizens of Ingham County.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this resolution will serve as a permanent reminder of the appreciation for the life and contributions of Chief James "Jim" M. Pelton.
