RESOLUTION HONORING NORMAN AUSTIN, TREASURER AND

FINANCE DIRECTOR FOR THE CITY OF MASON

RESOLUTION #01-365

WHEREAS, Norman Austin has served as the Treasurer and Finance Director of the City of Mason for the past 39 years; and

WHEREAS, after four years in the United States Air Force being stationed in Wyoming, California and Germany, Norm returned to Mason and began serving as an Assistant for his mother, Doris Austin, who was at that time Treasurer of the City of Mason; and

WHEREAS, upon her retirement two years later, Norm replaced her as Treasurer, and has had a very successful career working with five different city administrators, as a result of his careful planning and well-respected integrity the City is in a stable financial position; and

WHEREAS, Norm has also served as a volunteer firefighter for the City of Mason for 29 years, following in the footsteps of his father Lee Austin, Mason's former Fire Chief of 29 years; and

WHEREAS, on December 14, 2001, Norm will be retiring from his position as Treasurer and Finance Director of the City of Mason.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners hereby honor Norman Austin for his 39 years of dedicated service to the City of Mason and for the many contributions he has made to the citizens of the County of Ingham.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board wishes him continued success in all of his future endeavors.
