RESOLUTION REGARDING COUNTY YOUTH HOMES



RESOLUTION #01-385



WHEREAS, counties are already in jeopardy of financial budget restraints; and



WHEREAS, by recent action of the State of Michigan against Ottawa County; and



WHEREAS, the State of Michigan refuses to pay fifty percent of reimbursement costs to house juveniles; and



WHEREAS, the State of Michigan will reimburse fifty percent of the daily cost of a private facility, but not for a county run facility; and



WHEREAS, the county run facility should cost less to run since the County versus going to an out of county facility; and



WHEREAS, this would create a great hardship on the juveniles and their families.



THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners wish to go on record that any approved juvenile facility should be reimbursed fifty percent for the total cost by the State of Michigan.



BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that copies of this Resolution be distributed to the Ingham County Legislative Delegation, and the Michigan Association of Counties.
