INGHAM COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

RESOLUTION TO ACCEPT A GRANT FROM INGHAM REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER AND TO AUTHORIZE A POSITION

RESOLUTION #98-13

WHEREAS, Ingham County has been working with the City of Lansing, the Vietnamese Association, St. Lawrence Hospital and Ingham Regional Medical Center to address the needs of Vietnamese refugees living in the Lansing area; and

WHEREAS, the County has agreed to incorporate a focus on persons of Vietnamese language and culture in the health center recently relocated from MLK Boulevard to St. Lawrence Hospital; and

WHEREAS, the Health Department requested that Ingham Regional Medical Center support the development of the Vietnamese focus with a grant to support a part-time Clinic Assistant /Technician position; and

WHEREAS, Ingham Regional Medical Center has advised the Health Officer that IRMC will contribute $15,000 per year during 1998 and 1999 to Ingham County with the purpose of employing a Clinic Assistant of Vietnamese descent; and

WHEREAS, the Health Officer has recommended that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners accept the grant and establish a part-time Clinic Assistant/Technician, UAW TOPS 07, with the understanding that the position will be grant-funded during 1998 and 1999 and that efforts will be made to incorporate the position into the operating budget of the St. Lawrence Health Center thereafter.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners accepts the grant of $15,000 per year for 1998 and 1999 and establishes a part-time Clinic Assistant/Technician position, UAW TOPS 07, effective February 1, 1998.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Controller is authorized to amend the 1998 Health Department Budget to implement this resolution.
