INGHAM COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE A REORGANIZATION IN THE EQUALIZATION/TAX SERVICES DEPARTMENT

RESOLUTION #98-142

WHEREAS, the Equalization/Tax Services Director desires to reorganize the Department to make more efficient use of personnel, technology, and funding; and

WHEREAS, the proposed reorganization results in the reclassification of the following positions: Senior Appraiser; Equalization Assistant; Agricultural Appraiser; Personal Property Examiner/Real Property Appraiser; and Clerk Steno II; and

WHEREAS, the reorganization will reduce the Department's short term operating expenses by approximately $27,000 (June 1, 1998 through December 31, 1998), and the Department's long term operating expenses by approximately $42,300 per year; and

WHEREAS, the new duties of the affected positions have been evaluated by the Human Resources Director and recommended for change.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners adopts the proposed reorganization plan for the Equalization/Tax Services Department and authorizes the Human Resources Department recommendations for reclassification of the following positions:

EQUL002 Senior Appraiser (P6-Vacant) to Position Eliminated

EQUL007 Equalization Assistant (P5-6) to Deputy Director (P6-5+)

EQUL005 Agricultural Appraiser P4-6) to Real Property Appraiser (P5-6)

EQUL009 P.P.E./R.P.A. (P4-3) to Real Property Appraiser (P5-3)

EQUL004 Clerk Steno II (T7-4) to Administrative Secretary (T9-4)

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this reorganization become effective for the payroll period following adoption by the Board of Commissioners.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Controller is authorized to make the necessary adjustments to implement this resolution.
