RESOLUTION HONORING SUSAN L. BOYD

RESOLUTION #98-165

WHEREAS, Susan L. Boyd has given 27 years of dedicated and faithful service to the Probate Court and the children and families of Ingham County, and

WHEREAS, Susan L. Boyd began her service with the Probate Court in 1970 as a teacher at the Ingham County Shelter Home, was promoted to Child Welfare Worker, Casework Supervisor, Director of Children and Youth Services and, in 1985, she became both Director of Children and Youth Services and Probate Court Administrator, and

WHEREAS, Susan L. Boyd believed deeply in the mission of the court: to serve the public as courteously and efficiently as possible, to protect both children and the elderly from mistreatment and exploitation, to protect the public from juvenile crime, to divert youthful offenders from a life of crime, to rehabilitate parents who neglect or abuse their children and, when that is not possible, to free children for adoption by loving families, and to expedite the probating of estates, and

WHEREAS, Susan L. Boyd developed an excellent working relationship with the Boards of Commissioners that she appeared before over the last decade, and

WHEREAS, Susan L. Boyd worked diligently to make the most of the resources available to the court to meet the needs of the families and individuals who came before the court, and

WHEREAS, Susan L. Boyd earned a reputation throughout the state as an outstanding administrator who was expert in the intricacies of managing a large and complex human service organization, and

WHEREAS, Susan L. Boyd earned the confidence and trust of others and was unwavering in her loyalty to the court and its employees, and

WHEREAS, throughout her tenure with the Probate Court, she has exemplified the highest standard of public service; now therefore,

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners hereby honors Susan L. Boyd for her many years of dedicated service to the County of Ingham.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners extends its gratitude for her many years of outstanding service and its best wishes to Susan L. Boyd on her retirement.
