RESOLUTION APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF VOICE ACTIVATED RESPONSE SYSTEM FOR THE COUNTY TREASURER=S OFFICE

RESOLUTION #98-228

WHEREAS, a large percentage of incoming phone calls to the Treasurer=s office request information relating to taxes, dog licensing or other information stored in the tax administration computer system; and

WHEREAS, much of this information can be supplied as active data directly from the computer main frame and is available full time; and

WHEREAS, such a system will reduce the number of calls which presently require a person to answer the phone; and

WHEREAS, the Voice Active Response System is presently in use by the Friend of the Court and will result in minimizing installation costs of the system in the Treasurer=s office, projected amount $41,900; and

WHEREAS, the greatest use of the system will be dedicated to the collection of delinquent taxes, the use of Delinquent Tax Revolving Fund Administration Fees is justifiable and funds are available; and

WHEREAS, this proposal has been reviewed and is recommended by the MIS Director.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the Treasurer is authorized to purchase the Lucent Technologies Voice Active Response System that is to be added to the system currently in use by Ingham County.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that installation costs of this system be charged to the Delinquent Tax Revolving Fund Administration Fee line item #616-25601-978000.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Controller=s office is authorized to make the necessary budget changes consistent with this resolution.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board Chairperson and County Clerk at hereby authorized to sign the necessary contract documents upon approval as to form by the County Attorney.
