RESOLUTION SETTING 1998 JUDICIAL COMPENSATION



RESOLUTION #98-25



WHEREAS, Resolution 80-359 established a parity system in the setting of Judicial salaries which set the Circuit Court, Probate Court, and District Court salaries at a certain percentage of State Supreme Court Justice salary; and



WHEREAS, the 1998 parity guidelines have been established at the following levels; and



Circuit Court - 92% of the State Supreme Court Justice salary

Probate Court - 92% of the State Supreme Court Justice salary

District Court - 88% of the State Supreme Court Justice salary



WHEREAS, the net annual cost to the County, because of Judicial standardization payments and other recently enacted legislation, has been reduced to $450, leaving only County costs associated with health benefits based on that portion of the Judge's salary historically deemed County share.



THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners hereby sets the County supplement for Judicial salaries at the parity level so when combined with the State contributions, the resulting figures will change the 1996 compensation levels to the following 1998 compensation levels effective January 1, 1998.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the County Controller be authorized to increase the Judicial Compensation automatically, whenever the State parity system dictates, that as long as the County portion does not exceed $450 per Judge.











RESOLUTION #98-25



BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the health insurance benefits to the Judges shall be the same as those benefits provided under the Managerial Compensation Plan which may be altered from time to time.
