INGHAM COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING INGHAM COUNTY'S PARTICIPATION IN AN INTERCITY LIGHT RAIL SERVICE STUDY AND TO APPROPRIATE FUNDS TO SUPPORT THE PROJECT RESEARCH

RESOLUTION #98-5

WHEREAS, the state House of Representatives has commissioned an ad hoc task force to determine the feasibility of developing an intercity light rail service between Detroit and Lansing, with points between; and

WHEREAS, the ad hoc committee is chaired by the representative of the 68th district in Ingham County, who has asked for the county's support in studying the need of potential users of such a system, since it would be linked in Ingham County; and

WHEREAS, in the spirit of intergovernmental cooperation, the county wishes to participate in the research project as it may be determined to have significant benefit to the residents of Ingham County.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners hereby authorizes the appropriation of Contingency Funds in an amount not to exceed $2,500, for the purpose of funding a proportionate amount of the research project.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Controller is hereby authorized to make the necessary budget adjustments.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a contract for conduction of the Intercity Light Rail Service Study shall be entered into with an entity approved by the Controller, and the Board Chairperson and County Clerk are authroized to sign the contract after review by the County Attorney.
