RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE MASON DOWNTOWN STREET SCAPE REVITALIZATION PLAN
RESOLUTION #98-6
WHEREAS, the Mason Tree Commission is currently developing a grant proposal for funding the implementation of the Mason Downtown STREET SCAPE Revitalization Plan; and
WHEREAS, the plan as presented to the Board of Commissioners is an integral component of an overall strategy to reinvigorate and revitalize the economic well being of Mason's town center through street tree plantings, pedestrian zone enhancements, and vehicular parking; and
WHEREAS, funds for such a project are provided through the Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act (ISTEA) for projects such as landscape and STREET SCAPE projects, historic preservation, pedestrian and bicycle facilities among others; and
WHEREAS, the county wishes to demonstrate its support for the project since it has a positive impact on the county seat, and insures the health, safety, and welfare of the public while visiting our historic downtown.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners hereby expresses its support for the Mason Downtown STREET SCAPE Revitalization Plan and encourages the Mason Tree Commission to seek the financial support of ISTEA funds to implement the project.
