RESOLUTION DESIGNATING

"NATIONAL BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB WEEK" IN INGHAM COUNTY



RESOLUTION #98-72



WHEREAS, the Boys & Girls Club of Lansing will recognize "National Boys & Girls Club Week", an observance shared by thousands of clubs and hundreds of thousands of youngsters across the country, April 20-25, 1998; and



WHEREAS, the Boys & Girls Clubs have been a home away from home for thousands of young people, ages 7-17, since 1985; and



WHEREAS, the Boys & Girls Clubs have been at the forefront of efforts in teaching youth living skills, drug prevention and delinquency prevention; and



WHEREAS, the Boys & Girls Clubs see in youth, the need to guard their health, train them in vocations and provide for their leisure time, thus setting up signs that will guide them through the path of adulthood, teaching them a sense of social responsibility and spiritual values to help them become good citizens; and



WHEREAS, the Boys & Girls Club of Lansing ensures that our young people steer clear of the streets, offers them a safe place to go, and provides them with quality programs.



THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners hereby designate April 20-25, 1998 as "Boys & Girls Club Week" in Ingham County.



BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the citizens of Ingham County are urged to join in recognizing the Boys & Girls Club of Lansing for providing comprehensive services to the young people of our community.
