RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A SPECIAL PART-TIME POSITION IN THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OFFICE TO PROVIDE SUPPORT FOR ADVISORY COMMITTEES



RESOLUTION #98-91



WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners has established the Equal Opportunity Committee and the Women's Commission as advisory committees to provide advice and assistance to the Board of Commissioners; and



WHEREAS, it is desirable to provide these Committees with secretarial support to enable them to carry out their assigned responsibilities.



THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that to the extent resources are assigned or budgeted by the Board of Commissioners, the Board of Commissioner's Office shall provide secretarial support to enable regular meetings to be scheduled and agendas prepared and mailed; to allow messages to be taken; to allow for minutes, letters, and reports to be typed and distributed; and to generally assist in other projects of the advisory committees as time allows.



BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an additional special part-time secretarial position is created in the Board of Commissioners Office to provide the resources in the Office sufficient to provide the Women's Commission and the Equal Opportunity Committee with such support.



BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the position shall be supervised by the Administrative Aide to the Board, the classification shall be determined by the Human Resources Director, and the position shall be budgeted to regularly work 15 hours per week.



BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that to the extent that additional resources are requested by the Equal Opportunity Committee to assist in carrying out its responsibilities, such request shall be made to the County Controller, who shall, if possible, make the necessary arrangements for providing the resource, or who shall provide the Board of Commissioners with a recommendation regarding the request, either during the annual budget process or during an other appropriate time.



BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the $7,500 budgeted in the Women's Commission 1998 budget, less any charges incurred this year, plus the $3,000 budgeted for personnel services in the Equal Opportunity Commission's budget is transferred to the Board of Commissioner's budget to provide the funding for this position.
