RESOLUTION TO ACCEPT A GRANT AWARD FROM THE MICHIGAN 4C ASSOCIATION TO ESTABLISH A POSITION AND TO AUTHORIZE A BUDGET AMENDMENT



RESOLUTION #99-011



WHEREAS, the State of Michigan is the recipient of federal funds to improve child care services in communities and has contracted the funds to the Michigan Community Coordinated Child Care Association (Michigan 4C Association) to implement programs; and



WHEREAS, the Michigan 4C Association has issued a Request for Proposals to community child care associations and agencies, including the Ingham County Office for Young Children; and



WHEREAS, the Michigan 4C Association has announced the award of an $8,500 Enhanced Quality Improvement Program (EQUIP) grant to Ingham County; and



WHEREAS, the Health Officer has recommended that the Board of Commissioners accept the grant award and authorize a budget amendment and the creation of a new position.



THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners accepts an $8,500 Enhanced Quality Improvement Program Special Project grant from the Michigan Community Coordinated Child Care Association, for the period January 1, 1999 through September 30, 1999.



BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the purpose of the grant is to conduct grant writing workshops, improve child care consumer education and help publicize child care financial assistance and information about health insurance opportunities for children.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the part-time Account Clerk III position (HLHOYC011-B) will be eliminated and that a three-quarter time Account Clerk III position (UAW TOPS 08) will be created effective February 1, 1999 and that the incumbent, Sharon Verhougstraete, shall be transferred to the new position.



BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Controller is authorized to amend the Health Department's 1999 budget to recognize an additional $8,000 in revenue and increase the appropriate expenditure line items by that same amount.
