RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING THE MOUNT HOPE SCHOOL ON ITS 50TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION
RESOLUTION #99-123
WHEREAS, in 1925, a 4.37 acre site was purchased by the Lansing Board of Education at 1215 E. Mount Hope Avenue for $20,000; and
WHEREAS, in 1948-49, a two story school was constructed on Mount Hope Avenue, it was the first elementary school to be built in Lansing since the construction of Verlinden Elementary, in 1930; and
WHEREAS, Mount Hope School is a kindergarten through fifth grade elementary school with an enrollment of 312 students and an average pupil teacher ratio of 22 to 1; and
WHEREAS, Mount Hope School is committed to creating a safe and orderly atmosphere; and
WHEREAS, the mission of Mount Hope School is to see that all students acquire essential academic skills, the ability to think and reason creatively, develop a positive self-image and solve problems in a multicultural, changing and increasingly; technological society; and
WHEREAS, Mount Hope School is celebrating its 50th birthday.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners hereby congratulate Mount Hope School on the event of its 50th Birthday Celebration; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners thank Principal Betty Underwood and the staff of Mount Hope School for their dedication and commitment towards the students and the community.
