RESOLUTION HONORING THE CRISTO REY FIESTA COMMITTEE

ON THE OCCASION OF ITS 21st YEAR OF OUTSTANDING SERVICE

TO THE LANSING AREA

RESOLUTION #99-124

WHEREAS, the Cristo Rey Fiesta, which began as a small, church festival, has grown into the largest hispanic festival in the mid-Michigan area, attracting over 20,000 people over three days; and

WHEREAS, the Fiesta is a showcase of some of the finest Hispanic culture, arts and traditions in Michigan and indeed, the nation; and

WHEREAS, Fiesta '99, now in its 21^st year, will present the best in Latino, Country and Tejano music, costumes, arts and crafts, folkloric performances and of course, Hispanic food; and

WHEREAS, the 1999 Fiesta will take place from May 28 to May 30, 1999, Cristo Rey Church Grounds, 201 W. Miller Road, Lansing, this will be the first fiesta at their new site; and

WHEREAS, the committee of volunteers who coordinate this annual event are to be commended for their devotion of many hours of labor and their wonderful demonstration of community pride.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Ingham County Board of Commissioners that the Board extends its highest accolades of commendation to the members of the Cristo Rey Fiesta Committee for 21 years of outstanding service to the residents of Ingham County. The Board wishes you continued success in your culturally enriching endeavors.
