RESOLUTION COMMENDING MAYOR HOLLISTER AND THE GM BLUE RIBBON COMMITTEE



RESOLUTION #99-125



WHEREAS, the GM Blue Ribbon Committee was formed by Mayor Hollister in early 1998; and



WHEREAS, with the assistance of MSU President Peter McPherson and Government Affairs Chief Steve Webster representatives from over 40 agencies, including every governmental unit in the mid-Michigan area, signed a pledge committing to make the retention of General Motors manufacturing facilities a top priority and agreeing to work collaboratively with other units of government to keep General Motors in the Lansing; and



WHEREAS, the Blue Ribbon's Committee efforts were focused on getting at least one factory in downtown Lansing, and



WHEREAS, on May 3, 1999, General Motor's Board of Director's tentatively approved a Cadillac factory near downtown Lansing, which is the first step toward preserving a way of life to the company workers, their families and the Lansing area.



THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners hereby commends Mayor Hollister, the GM Blue Ribbon Committee and all others involved, for their dedication, commitment and the effort they put toward keeping General Motors in the Lansing.



BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board sincerely appreciates the contributions they have made to the community and the citizens of Ingham County.
