INGHAM COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS



RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF TWO VEHICLES FOR THE INGHAM COUNTY ANIMAL CONTROL DEPARTMENT



RESOLUTION #99-016



WHEREAS, the Animal Control Department budgeted $27,500 in the 1999 budget for the replacement of a patrol vehicle and necessary equipment, and expected additional funds would become available within the Insurance Fund, for the replacement of a wrecked patrol vehicle; and



WHEREAS, additional funds did become available within the Insurance Fund for the replacement of a wrecked patrol vehicle and its equipment in the amount of $12,415; and



WHEREAS, the Purchasing & Properties Department participates with Oakland County in a Cooperative Purchasing Program under which patrol vehicles for the Ingham County Animal Control Department can be purchased by competitive bid under Oakland County Contract; and



WHEREAS, two needed Ingham County Animal Control Patrol vehicles and their required equipment can be purchased under Oakland County contract for the total cost of $45,230.14; and



WHEREAS, funds are necessary, in addition to those budgeted in 1999 for the purchase of vehicles and those acquired in the Insurance Fund as a result of the wrecked patrol vehicle, to complete this purchase.



THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Commissioners authorizes the use of $5,315.14 of County Contingency Funds for the purchase of Animal Control Patrol Vehicles and their necessary equipment.



BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners hereby authorizes the purchase of the following vehicles for the Animal Control Department under the Oakland County Cooperative Purchasing Program:



One (1) Chevrolet Silverado 4X4 1500 Regular Cab Pickup at a cost of $19,905.94, and

one (1) Chevrolet Silverado 4X2 1500 Extended Cab Pickup at a cost of $20,051.62,

from Buff Whelan Chevrolet, Sterling Hts, MI.



BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board of Commissioners authorizes the use of budgeted funds for the purchase of necessary equipment such as animal containment camper tops, and emergency equipment in accordance with purchasing policies and procedures.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the vehicle being replaced is authorized to be sold as deemed to be in the best interest of the County as determined by the Purchasing & Properties Director.



BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Controller is authorized to make the necessary budgetary transfers to the appropriate line items as authorized by this resolution.
