INGHAM COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

RESOLUTION TO ALLOW THE INGHAM COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE, THE

MICHIGAN SHERIFF'S ASSOCIATION AND CRIMINAL JUSTICE MANAGEMENT INSTITUTE

TO APPLY FOR 301 GRANT MONEY THROUGH THE STATE OF MICHIGAN

RESOLUTION #99-184

WHEREAS, the State of Michigan allows for law enforcement agencies to submit requests for grant monies to provide law enforcement programs; and

WHEREAS, the Michigan Sheriff's Association in cooperation with Criminal Justice Management Institute, has requested the Ingham County Sheriff's Office to apply for grant money to sponsor five programs for Sheriffs' Offices throughout the State of Michigan; and

WHEREAS, the Criminal Justice Management Institute has offered these programs through the Michigan Sheriff's Association for many years; and

WHEREAS, Ingham County and the Ingham County Sheriff's Office will bear no expense in applying for, accepting, and offering the programs through the grant monies that will be made available; and

WHEREAS, as President of the Michigan Sheriff's Association, Sheriff Wriggelsworth is acting on behalf of the other Sheriffs throughout the State of Michigan.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners approves the application request for the Ingham County Sheriff's Office in conjunction with the Michigan Sheriff's Association and the Criminal Justice Management Institute to apply for grant monies not to exceed $106,250 through the State of Michigan.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Chairperson of the Ingham County Board of Commissioners and the County Clerk are authorized to sign any necessary contract documents consistent with this resolution and approved as to form by the County Attorney.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the Ingham County Board of Commissioners directs the Controller's Office to make any necessary adjustments in the Ingham County Sheriff's Office Budget.
