RESOLUTION HONORING CARL J. LATONA



RESOLUTION #99-187



WHEREAS, Carl J. Latona has served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Highfields, Inc. since 1974; and



WHEREAS, as President, Carl was not only involved in the administration of the various services offered by Highfields, but he was also actively involved in program development, fund raising, and public policy in the child welfare field; and



WHEREAS, Carl Latona has devoted his personal and professional life to working with community groups and organizations dedicated to helping rehabilitate juvenile offenders, strengthening families in crisis and networking services on behalf of children and families; and



WHEREAS, Carl Latona currently serves as a member of the University of Michigan Center for the Study of Youth Policy Public Education Advisory Board, a position he has held since 1989, and has been a participant in the International Colloquium on Youth and Families International Association of Psycho-Educators since 1993, chairing the Working with Families of Youth in Out-of-Home Care work group; and



WHEREAS, Carl also holds the position of Chairperson of the Board of Directors for the ChildNET Consortium and has been participating in the Ingham County Strong Families Safe Community Coordinating Council since 1994.



WHEREAS, on May 31, 1999, Carl Latona retired from his position at Highfields, Inc.



THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners hereby honors Carl J. Latona for his years of service to Highfields, Inc. and sincerely appreciates his commitment and dedication toward helping the citizens of the County of Ingham.



BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board wishes Carl Latona continued success in all of his future endeavors.
