RESOLUTION HONORING SIGFRIED JOHNSON



RESOLUTION #99-22



WHEREAS, Sigfried Johnson is the oldest surviving retired Ingham County Sheriff's Deputy; and



WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson was sworn in as a Deputy Sheriff in December of 1942 and later began serving as the Undersheriff for Sheriff McDonald; and



WHEREAS, Undersheriff Johnson retired from the Sheriff's Office at the end of Sheriff McDonald's term in December of 1949; and



WHEREAS, Sigfried Johnson then became a partner in a Chrysler/Plymouth dealership in Lansing until his retirement in 1961; and



WHEREAS, Sigfried Johnson's parents immigrated to the United States from Sweden in the late 1800's and were among the first European's to settle in the Shelbyville area of Allegan County, Michigan; and



WHEREAS, Sigfried Johnson will be celebrating his 100th birthday on February 14, 1999.



THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners hereby honors Sigfried Johnson on the event of his 100th birthday and extends their sincere appreciation for his service to the County of Ingham and its citizens.
