RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN APPROPRIATION FROM THE CONTINGENCY FUND AND AUTHORIZING A CONTRACT WITH THE LOAVES AND FISHES
FOR THE OVERNIGHT SHELTER PROGRAM
RESOLUTION #99-226
WHEREAS, the Loaves and Fishes organization operates an Overnight Shelter Program in the County; and
WHEREAS, the Overnight Shelter Program had an emergency purchase necessary for the replacement of furnace and air conditioning units resulting in a budget shortfall for this fiscal year; and
WHEREAS, requests for additional short and long-term funding have been made to the County, the City of Lansing, and various private entities; and
WHEREAS, the request for short-term funding in the amount of $4,133 through December 31, 1999, is the most critical need; and
WHEREAS, the appropriate development of youth and assisting in meeting basic needs are two of the highest priorities of the Board of Commissioners.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Commissioners authorizes a transfer from the 1999 Contingency Fund in the amount of $4,133 for a one time only emergency appropriation and a contract with the Loaves and Fishes in that amount, to supplement the Overnight Shelter Program services through December 31, 1999.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that Loaves and Fishes is urged to seek other sources for long-term financial support.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners authorizes the County Attorney to prepare the necessary contract documents with the Board Chairperson and the County Clerk authorized to sign the same.
