RESOLUTION TO APPLY FOR A GRANT TO CREATE A "C.U.T.T." PROGRAM



RESOLUTION #99-227



WHEREAS, the Michigan Office of Drug Control Policy has Byrne grant funds to combat substance abuse, juvenile crime and violence; and



WHEREAS, the Ingham County Sheriff's Office desires to apply for a grant to establish a Citizens United to Target Truancy or C.U.T.T. program similar to the City of Lansing's C.U.T.T. program which uses Retired Senior Volunteers working in conjunction with schools and law enforcement to combat school truancy and attendance problems; and



WHEREAS, the cost of the program during the period October 1, 1999 to September 30, 2000 would be $32,963 with grant funds of $24,722 and a local match of $8,241 required; and



WHEREAS, match funds must be new funds in addition to any funds currently applied to law enforcement and such funds are being sought through the Ingham County Intermediate School District and the following school systems: East Lansing, Dansville, Holt, Haslett, Okemos, Waverly, Webberville, and Williamston.



WHEREAS, the majority of the labor to run the program will be provided by Ingham County Retired Senior Volunteers and Triad members.



THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners approves the acceptance for this grant from the Office of Drug Control Policy for the Ingham County C.U.T.T. program at a cost of the program during the period October 1, 1999 to September 30, 2000 would be $32,963 with grant funds of $24,722 and a local match of $8,241 and authorizes the Board Chairperson and Clerk to sign any necessary documents consistent with this resolution and subject to approval as to form by the County Attorney.



BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners authorizes the Controller to make the necessary budget adjustments consistent with this resolution in the Ingham County Sheriff's Office 1999 and 2000 Budgets.
