RESOLUTION TO ACCEPT A $10,000 DONATION FROM THE GENERAL MOTORS

CORPORATION FOR THE "K-12 WEATHER ALERT RADIO PROJECT"



RESOLUTION #99-47



WHEREAS, the Ingham County Emergency Planning and Community Right-To-Know Committee (LEPC) has identified an improved system for notifying facilities during special weather and other emergency alerts; and



WHEREAS, the LEPC has worked with Schools and Radio Shack within Ingham County to identify the needs and costs associated with the "K-12 Weather Alert Radio Project"; and



WHEREAS, the General Motors Corporation has available funding to the LEPC and Ingham County to purchase the necessary radios for this system.



THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners accepts the donation of up to $10,000 for the "K-12 Weather Alert Radio Project" from the General Motors Corporation on behalf of the Ingham County LEPC and the County of Ingham.



BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners authorizes the Ingham County LEPC to select, purchase, and distribute to the various Ingham County school systems the proper radio equipment from Radio Shack which it believes is most appropriate for the "K-12 Weather Alert Radio Project".



BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the Ingham County Board of Commissioners authorizes the Board Chairperson and the County Clerk to sign any necessary contract documents that are consistent with this resolution and approved as to form by the County Attorney.



BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the Ingham County Board of Commissioners authorizes the Controller to amend the LEPC 1999 budget in accordance with this resolution.



BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners thanks the General Motors Corporation for this thoughtful donation.
