INGHAM COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE EAST LANSING AMTRAK STATION RENOVATION PROJECT

RESOLUTION #99-53

WHEREAS, the Capital Area Rail Council (CARC) has presented its conceptual plans for renovating the East Lansing Amtrak station; and

WHEREAS, the architectural plans for the project have been reviewed by the Administrative Services/Personnel and Finance Committees along with the proposed estimated costs and funding sources for the project; and

WHEREAS, CARC will be seeking a grant from the Michigan Department of Transportation, the federally funded Michigan Transportation Enhancement Program in addition to financial support from Amtrak, the City of East Lansing, Michigan State University, and various private sector entities; and

WHEREAS, Ingham County will assist in securing funding and is in support of the project; and

WHEREAS, Ingham County is in support of the project and is adopting this resolution for use as an addendum to the above-mentioned grant application and future applications for grants or other sources of funding for the project.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners hereby adopts this resolution in support of the East Lansing Amtrak Station/Site Renovation Project.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the County supports the Capital Area Rail Council's efforts and will review its financial level of support during the development of its Year 2000 budget with the anticipation of finding funds for the project.
