INGHAM COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE INGHAM COUNTY MSU EXTENSION TO PURCHASE TWO COMPUTERS

RESOLUTION #99-77

WHEREAS, Ingham County MSU Extension relies on the technology based resources of both Ingham County and Michigan State University for program delivery, reporting and other administrative functions; and

WHEREAS, Michigan State University Extension now uses MS Office 97 software on campus and in all of its county field offices and this software is not currently available for use in the Ingham County MSU Extension Office; and

WHEREAS, the Ingham County MIS Department has authorized upgrades for work stations in Ingham County MSU Extension to provide Windows 95, WordPerfect 8 and network access to Microsoft Power Point, Excel and Access in order to provide functional compatibility within both the County and MSU technology environments; and

WHEREAS, an additional $2,754 are needed beyond MIS and Extension 1999 CIP budgets to complete the necessary computer upgrades and replacements to purchase new computers for the Agricultural Agent and the Horticultural Agent work stations; and

WHEREAS, these funds are available in the Ingham County MSU horticultural program activity account and could be made available to purchase the two new computers.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners authorizes Ingham County MSU Extension to use up to $2,754 in funds from the horticulture activity account to purchase computers for the Agricultural Agent and the Horticultural Agent.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the County Controller is authorized to amend the 1999 Ingham County MSU Extension budget and to amend the County MSU Extension capital improvement fund in accordance with this resolution.
