RESOLUTION HONORING SCOTT DANE, JR.

RESOLUTION #99-91

WHEREAS, Scott Dane, Jr. has served as a member of the Key Leader Policy Group of the Minority Over-Representation Project, a program of the Ingham County/City of Lansing Youth Violence Prevention Coalition; and

WHEREAS, as a member, Scott participated in planning, development and implementation of policies and programs to reduce this problem in our community; and

WHEREAS, Scott Dane, Jr. will be graduating from Holt High School with honors in June, 1999 and will be attending college in the fall to major in science and medicine; and

WHEREAS, while attending high school he has been a member of the National Honor Society and President of the Holt High School Chapter during his senior year; and

WHEREAS, Scott has received other honors for academics including the Michigan State University Outstanding Promise in Arts and Letters (OPAL); and

WHEREAS, he is committed to community service and has been involved with the Global Hopemakers Exchange Program, he has also traveled to Russia as an exchange student and to the Philippines with his church; and

WHEREAS, Scott has been involved in the Youth Progressive Action Committee of the Capital Region Community Foundation for seven years has served as Co-Chair for the last four years; and

WHEREAS, he was the Captain of Holt's Varsity Soccer team, as well as Captain of the Lansing's Academic Games team.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners hereby honors Scott Dane, Jr. for the many contributions he has made to the County of Ingham and its citizens and for serving as a positive role model for the youth in our community.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board wishes him the best in all of his future endeavors.
