WHO ARE WE?
The Equal Opportunity Committee was created to promote Ingham County government as an equal opportunity employer and service provider and to promote the Equal Opportunity Plan within Ingham County government. This nine member board is appointed by the Ingham County Board of Commissioners. The Equal Opportunity Committee consists of members chosen to provide a broad cross-section of perspectives, backgrounds and ages.WHAT DO WE DO?
The Equal Opportunity Committee is charged with the following responsibilities:
To identify barriers to the hiring and promotion of minorities and women within Ingham County government and to
recommend possible solutions.
To investigate discrimination complaints brought by proposed job applicants, and to provide reports on the need to
address such situations
To assist in achieving compliance with the County's Equal Opportunity Plan
To make recommendations regarding changes and updates to the County's Equal Opportunity Plan
To advise as to the status of compliance with the County's Equal Opportunity Plan
To advise as to the degree to which county vendors, banks and financial institutions holding county funds, are
Equal Opportunity employers and lenders..
OUR MISSION:
To advise the Ingham County Board of Commissioners on policy issues which will assure equal opportunity for all in matters of employment recruitment, selection and work environment.
