The Ingham
County Land Bank Fast Track Authority was created under the
provisions of the Michigan Land Bank Fast Track Act, 2003
P.A.258, 124.571 et
seq., and the Intergovernmental Agreement by and
between the Michigan Land Bank Fast Track Authority and the
Treasurer of the
County
of
Ingham
.
The Ingham County Land Bank is dedicated to improving
the quality of our neighborhoods, strengthening our
communities and innovative concepts to homeownership.
The Ingham County Land Bank is a strategic economic
tool which is intended to support growth and investment in
our community by protecting and improving the property that
has come to the County because of tax foreclosure.
The Ingham County Land Bank has been created to
return tax reverted, purchased, donated and unclaimed
parcels of land to productive use more rapidly than would
otherwise be possible.
The Ingham County Land Bank will, in some cases
concentrate its efforts on an entire neighborhood that needs
reinvestment. The
Land Bank will buy, renovate and resell multiple properties
in a designated area so that they become an attractive
purchase to someone that wants to be a homeowner.
This kind of concentrative reinvestment not only
attracts good neighbors, but it also helps to protect an
area from falling into decline, protects property values and
maintains a balance between homeownership and rental
properties.
The Ingham
County Land Bank creates homeownership through options like
down payment assistant programs, land contract terms and
simple and competitive financing options through local
lenders. Homeownership becomes a reality and builds wealth
and hope.
The mission, once a property is the responsibility of
the Ingham County Land Bank, is to be good stewards of the
property and to increase homeownership.
