How will the Court know I have paid this fee?

When the bookkeeper receives verification of receipt of the funds from Government Payment Services, they will be posted to the account. This will generally be 7 to 10 days from the date the call was placed. However, a confirmation of the transaction will be faxed to our bookkeeper immediately following the call, so the Court will have proof of the day the payment was made via credit card.

Is there a service fee when I pay by credit card?

Government Payment Services charges a service fee for using your credit card. The fee is based on the type of payment being made and the amount of money being paid. The fee for paying costs is 5% of the amount of the payment.

The fee for paying fines, fees, restitution and costs assessed as part of a criminal sentencing order is a variable percentage based on the amount of the payment. The service fee schedule for fines and criminal court costs is:

Charge Amount             Service Fee

$1.00 - $100.00             $10.00

$100.01 - $200.00         $18.00

$200.01 - $300.00         $24.00

$300.01-$400.00            $32.00

$400.01 and over             8%

The Government Payment Services operator will give the caller the exact amount of the service charge to be assessed.

Ingham County Circuit Court does not receive any part of the service fee.
