Where is the Ingham County Clerk's Office located?

The Ingham County Clerk's office is located on the first floor of the Veterans Memorial Courthouse, 313 W. Kalamazoo Street, Lansing, Michigan and in the Ingham County Courthouse located in downtown Mason, Michigan.

 

What is the difference between the Ingham County Circuit Court Clerk's Office and the Ingham County Clerk's Office?

 The Ingham County Circuit Court Clerk's Office handles all court-related services and filings for the Circuit Court. The County Clerk's Office handles many other matters that do not pertain to court, such as election information, DBA's and partnerships, birth, death and marriage information and forms, passport information and forms, notary public information and forms, concealed pistols licenses, military discharge, genealogy research and forms, and county commissioner districts.

 

Where do I send papers for filing?

All new cases must be filed at the Ingham County Circuit Court Veterans Memorial Courthouse, 313 W. Kalamazoo Street, Lansing, Michigan 48933. The office is located on the corner of Walnut and Kalamazoo and is on the first floor of the building. Once cases have been opened and assigned a judge, filings may be accepted at the Mason Courthouse Circuit Court Clerk's Office which is on the third floor. This is the preferred location for filing documents for cases assigned to Judge William E. Collette.

 

Where do I pay parking tickets?

Parking tickets are paid at the District Court. Depending on where the ticket was obtained, the location would be at any of the following three district courts in Ingham County: 54-A District Court, 124 W. Michigan Ave., 6th Floor, Lansing, Michigan (tickets received within city limits); 54-B District Court, 101 Linden, East Lansing, Michigan (tickets received within East Lansing limits); and 55th District Court, 700 Buhl Avenue, Mason, Michigan (tickets received outside East Lansing and Lansing, but in Ingham County).

 

Can you perform weddings?

District Court Magistrates perform marriage ceremonies. You should contact one of the District Courts for the appropriate information on how to schedule a wedding.

 

Where do I file a civil lawsuit?

Civil lawsuits over $25,000 are filed with the Circuit Court. Lawsuits under $25,000 are filed at District Court. District Court also handles landlord tenant matters.
