
| Ingham County Home | General Trial Division: MOTIONS Motion day for Ingham County Circuit Court General Trial Division is Wednesday. To schedule a fifteen minute motion without testimony you should contact the Judicial Assistant for the Judge assigned to the case for a hearing date and time. To schedule a motion that will require testimony or that will be longer than fifteen minutes you should contact the Judicial Assistant for the Judge assigned to the case for a hearing date and/or further instructions. To cancel or change a motion scheduled you must be the moving party. Ingham county does not use preacipes. You should file a notice of hearing.

| ADJOURNMENTS Contact the Judicial Assistant for the Judge assigned to the case for that particular Judges’ procedure regarding adjournments. To obtain a new date for a civil pretrial or trial the Case Processing Coordinator can be reached at 483-6500, Ext. 6717. The Case Evaluation Clerk at 483-6500, Ext. 6718 can give you a new date for case evaluation. Be sure to include your new date(s) in your stipulation and order.

| MOTIONS FOR RECONSIDERATION MCR 2.119(F)(2) states that no response to a Motion for Rehearing or Reconsideration may be filed, and there is no oral argument unless the court otherwise directs.

| ORAL ARGUMENTS Oral arguments on appeal cases are scheduled by the Judges’ office once all briefs have been filed in the case. You will receive a Notice of Oral Argument from the Case Processing Coordinator giving you the scheduled date and time of oral argument.

| CASE SCHEDULING ORDERS Once answers and/or appearances have been filed by all defendants in a case you will receive a notice of a case scheduling conference or a case scheduling order, depending on the Judge assigned to the case. Notice of Case Evaluation, Pretrial and Trial will be sent once a case scheduling order has been done. |
