WHAT WE DO...
Community Corrections works system-wide to facilitate
the most efficient, effective use of Ingham County
corrections resources; maintain safe, cost efficient
community-based correctional programs that provide
appropriate treatment and sanction options; and to
develop and implement public education and training
efforts to increase community awareness and provide
training opportunities for local criminal justice
professionals.
The Community Corrections Advisory Board has 14
members who are appointed by the Ingham County Board of
Commissioners and the Lansing City Council. The CCAB
develops goals, criteria, and guidelines designed to
maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of local
corrections resources, as well as for community
corrections planning and programs.
Community Corrections Administration assists the CCAB
with policy development and planning; implements CCAB
policies; monitors and evaluates community correction’s
programs;
coordinates and facilitates the ongoing Jail
Utilization Coordinating Committee; facilitates
implementation of recommendations identified through
System Mapping, Jail Overcrowding Subcommittee
recommendations, and any recommendations of the Jail
Utilization Coordinating Committee; provides fiscal
management of the Community Corrections budget;
coordinates Public Act A511 Program Referral Services;
assists the Sheriff’s Office with the State Jail
