On May 20th, bring your dog and join the fun at Ingham County Animal Control’s Woofer Walk for an untimed 1-mile walk or an officially-timed 5k run on MSU's beautiful campus to raise funds for the homeless animals at the Ingham County Animal Shelter!
In addition to the 5k and Walk, we have added a FREE Kids Fun Run to start off the race. Plus we will have a number of other free fun and educational activities and vendor booths to visit and enjoy before race kickoff, such as face painting, dog agility-course demos, DJ music, and photo opportunities with ICAC mascot Chippy!
You can register for this event at www.runsignup.com
and search for Woofer Walk. This event is part of the Michigan Fitness Challenge race series (http://michiganfitness.org
/), so if you sign up to participate in the Challenge, you can count our 5k event in your completed races!
Advance T-shirt/packet pickup will be available on Friday, May 19 from 5-9pm at Playmakers Okemos (2299 W Grand River Ave, Okemos, MI 48864.) All materials will also be available for pick up the day of the event starting at 10am at the MSU Auditorium. Participants will also have the option of purchasing t-shirts at the event ($15 adult sizes, $10 children's sizes).
Proceeds from this even support the Ingham County Animal Shelter Fund and Animal Care Fund, which provide a full-time Animal Cruelty Officer for all of Ingham County who works directly with law enforcement and the Prosecutor’s Office to find and bring those guilty of animal neglect and abuse to justice and helps subsidize the costs of housing, medication, veterinary care, and rehabilitation for animals seized in criminal cases or who have otherwise been neglected, injured or abused.
