If employment requires driving, the
following guidelines apply.
Points
Points
are valid on a driving record for only 3 years (unless involving alcohol-related
incidents which are held 5 years), then the maximum points a person can have on
their record is
4 points
in 5 years.
Accidents
Any person cited for being at fault in 2 or
more accidents in the last 5 years shall not be considered further for
employment.
Any person involved in 4 or more accidents
in the last 5 years, even where the person is not at fault, shall not be
considered for employment.
Restricted/Suspended Licenses
Furthermore, any person who is or, has been
under a restricted driver's license in the last 3 years shall not be considered for employment.
Finally, any person who has had a revoked or
suspended license for reasons that involve the actual operation of a vehicle, or
the failure to comply with ordinances and laws governing the operation of a
vehicle (non- payment of traffic or parking tickets) over the last 5 years shall
not be considered for employment.
This does not include suspensions of
a license due to other State Administrative actions such as: Sanctions
and/or Fines for events un-related to operating a vehicle. (examples include,
but are not limited to: Minor in possession of alcohol- non vehicle related,
Non-payment of child support, etc.)
This policy shall only be a consideration in positions where
the operation of a motorized vehicle is a duty or is a tool used during the random course of every day employment for
business travel during county time or used in the transportation of people and
or materials as a duty of employment.
